Public Disclosure Notices and Public Statements
The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) issues a public disclosure notice (PDN) when:
- HLC imposes or removes a sanction or a Show-Cause Order.
- HLC assigns or removes an institutional designation.
- HLC denies an application for Change of Control, Structure or Organization.
- HLC takes an adverse action on an institution, including withdrawal of accreditation.
- An institution voluntarily resigns its accreditation or candidacy with HLC.
The PDN includes a history of the institution’s relationship with HLC, the nature of the action, and a brief analysis of the situation that prompted the action, as well as next steps in review and correction, if applicable.
HLC also posts public statements to correct or confirm a media report, to respond to frequent inquiries from the public or to address notable institutional matters in the public eye.
