The Latest from the Peer Corps
Over the past year at HLC, there have been many changes within the Peer Corps, including a departmental restructuring and the search for and onboarding of a new director. We know that some members of the HLC community have been eager to apply to be a peer reviewer, and that current reviewers are interested in expanding their training.
After evaluating and refreshing certain processes related to the Peer Corps, peer reviewer activities are in full swing this academic year.
New Peer Corps Members
The application to join the Peer Corps was recently open from October 16 to November 3, and HLC received more than 500 submissions from prospective reviewers! Thank you to all who applied; decisions will be sent in early December. New peer reviewers will be invited to register for virtual and in-person training opportunities in early 2024 to become an active peer reviewer.
Training Opportunities
HLC recently hosted several virtual webinars for certain peer reviewers to refresh their knowledge, prepare for their upcoming visits and stay up to date on the latest in accreditation. This included programming related to Pell-eligible prison education programs, Multi-campus visits, and refreshers on the Standard and Open Pathways.
Peer reviewers will be invited to future training opportunities via email. Need a refresher on the Criteria or Pathways? View HLC’s recorded webinars online.
Peer reviewers can also now register for the 2024 Annual Conference, including the Peer Reviewer Updates and Training program on Saturday, April 13. The program includes the latest accreditation updates for the Peer Corps, a luncheon honoring reviewers nominated for awards by their colleagues and HLC, professional development sessions, training, and more!
