HLC’s Board of Trustees took the following actions at its meeting on June 25–26, 2026.

Proposed Policy Changes

The Board approved the following proposed policy changes on first reading. The Board will consider the proposed changes for adoption on second reading at its November 2026 meeting.

  • Management of HLC Records and Information
The proposed changes would clarify various aspects of policies related to the management of HLC records and information, including the information in an institution’s administrative record and on the HLC website.

Adopted Policy Changes

The Board adopted the following policy changes on second reading. They are effective immediately.

  • Presidential Authority
The policy changes expand certain aspects of the scope of the HLC president’s authority to take actions related to an institution’s relationship with HLC, including as related to special monitoring and Administrative Probation.
  • Voluntary Resignation
The policy changes clarify certain aspects of the requirements and process regarding voluntary resignation of membership with HLC. HLC has also updated its voluntary resignation of HLC membership procedure and form

Revised Guiding Values

The Board adopted revised Guiding Values to support how HLC implements its Mission and Vision. The Guiding Values inform HLC’s accreditation standards; how HLC conducts its accreditation activities in order to provide value to its members and the students served by its members; and how HLC pursues activities and operations beyond accreditation.

“These guiding values help define who we are at HLC,” says Barbara Gellman-Danley, HLC president. “They are the tenets for all we do.”

2026–27 Dues and Fees Schedule

The Board adopted minor increases to HLC’s dues and fees for the 2026–27 fiscal year. See the updated Dues and Fees Schedule for details.

Dues invoices were sent to member institutions on July 1, 2026.

Accreditation Actions

See June 2026 Accreditation Actions for the Board’s actions on institutional cases.
