Peer Review

HLC’s peer reviewers are expert volunteers who play an essential role in assuring the quality of our member institutions.

They are trained to evaluate colleges and universities and provide guidance to help them continuously improve.

The Peer Corps is made up of approximately 1,450 faculty, administrators and staff who are currently employed by or recently retired from colleges and universities in the United States.

Become a Peer Reviewer

We periodically seek experienced faculty, staff, and administrators at HLC-accredited institutions to join the Peer Corps. Interested in becoming a peer reviewer? Read about who we’re looking for

We give preference to applicants who meet our diversity initiative or areas of critical need, which are determined for each recruitment cycle.

Diversity Initiative

We’re always working to increase the ethnic and racial diversity of our Peer Corps so that it reflects the many different backgrounds of students, faculty and staff at our member institutions. We formed the Peer Corps Committee on Diversity in July 2015 to address this need.

The committee aims to increase the numbers of peer reviewers from the following groups to better reflect the ethnic and racial diversity within HLC’s member institutions:

  • American Indian or Alaska Native
  • Asian and Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
  • Black or African-American
  • Hispanic or Latino
