Welcome to the November issue of Leaflet. We have a lot of important activities in place at the Higher Learning Commission. Our Credential Lab work is in full swing, and updates are provided in this issue of Leaflet. As we do that work, more is written nearly every day about the growing opportunities of short-term certificates and other credentials, many which lead to a degree.

Other HLC activities include keeping a watchful eye on any proposed legislation including federal and state strategic directions for higher education. One key area is outcomes, which is a parallel focus for HLC and its member institutions. The Board and staff are working on the Criteria for Accreditation updates for the fall of 2025, when all of these projects converge. With a laser focus on mission-reflective reviews, the concept of Differential Accreditation will merge into the Criteria.

As always, each effort will include a lot of member input, including listening sessions at the Annual Conference. On behalf of the Board and staff of the Higher Learning Commission, I wish each of you a very happy and healthy holiday season.
