February 2026 Actions

HLC’s Board of Trustees, Institutional Actions Council (IAC) and staff take actions on institutional evaluations, requests from institutions for approval of substantive changes, and other aspects of the accreditation relationship.

HLC posts all institutional actions within 30 days after the action is taken. Actions taken during February 2026 are published below and/or on the institution’s Statement of Accreditation Status in the HLC Directory of Institutions.

Board of Trustees

The Higher Learning Commission’s Board of Trustees took the following actions on February 26, 2026.

New Mexico 

Mesalands Community College, Removed from Probation and continued and reaffirmed accreditation with monitoring. 

North Dakota  

Dickinson State University, Continued and reaffirmed the institution’s accreditation. 

West Virginia and Minnesota  

American Public University System and Rasmussen University, Approved the continuation of accreditation after Phase 1 of the Change of Control, Structure, or Organization wherein American Public University System and Rasmussen University, together with Hondros College of Nursing, undergo a series of legal mergers within their common superordinate entity, with the intent of consolidating the three institutions thereafter into a single HLC-accredited institution, which will operate as a system.
