Summer is here, and I remember all the times I was asked as a university president how I was going to spend this season, with an implication we shut down for a few months! I can imagine many of you have received similar inquiries, and we all know our work does not ever slow down.
As you will read in this issue of Leaflet, many important decisions were made at our recent HLC Board meeting, including finalizing the Revised Criteria for Accreditation and a discussion about reduced-credit degrees. HLC appreciates the extensive member input we received on the Criteria and other policies; we do listen to our members.
You will also hear a lot about recent Supreme Court decisions that can impact higher education. I encourage you to read all you can about these decisions in order to plan accordingly when needed. Recently institutional accreditors met to review potential outcomes of the Chevron decision reversal, as one example.
The road is a bit rough for higher education, and the speed bumps are growing. I do hope, however, you will take time to enjoy a break as much as possible and rejuvenate. At HLC, we are grateful for all that you do for the students, and we will continue to seek your guidance on the best ways we can serve members. Have a great summer!
