She began leading the college’s accreditation efforts in 2017 and now serves as Director of Accreditation and ALO. Dr. Kvasnicka-Gates helped change the accreditation-culture at DCB from one of compliance to one of continuous quality improvement. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTechnology Requirements\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPlatform\n\n\n\nBefore the event\, you will receive an email from sparq@hlcommission.org with login information that will give you access to all workshop materials and activities in SparQ\, HLC’s collaborative learning hub. This interactive workshop will help you refine your argument\, evaluate the existence\, use and effectiveness of your evidence and create a plan for finalizing your argument and evidence file.  \n\n\n\nFollowing the workshop\, you will submit a short excerpt of the Assurance Argument and a sample of evidence for feedback from the workshop leaders. You will also receive access to recorded presentations on the visit and decision-making processes.   \n\n\n\nThere’s no requirement for how complete your Assurance Argument should be before attending. However\, teams that are editing\, refining or finalizing the argument may find the most benefit from the workshop. \n\n\n\n\n\nWho Should Attend?\n\n\n\nThis workshop is open to Accreditation Liaison Officers\, Primary Filing Coordinators and other representatives responsible for preparing the Assurance Filing for institutions with an Assurance Review scheduled from April – October 2027 as part of a Year 4 or Year 10 evaluation.  \n\n\n\nEach participating institution is expected to send a team of three to eight members. As you’re building the team\, you may find it useful to involve colleagues on your campus with peer review or prior accreditation experience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgram Fees\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n$750.00 per team \n\n\n\n(3-8 members)\n\n\n\nEach team consisting of three to eight members will be charged $750.00. A minimum of three members is required for each team. She also works as a trainer and facilitator in leadership development\, strategic planning\, public image\, marketing\, branding\, and organizational effectiveness. Lisa retired on January 1\, 2024\, after extensive involvement in Pratt CC’s professional teams and programs\, including the President’s Council\, Instructional Council\, and Student Leadership Council\, chairing the institution’s program review initiative\, leading the Return to Campus Task Force during the pandemic\, and co-chairing the institution’s accreditation team. She served as Title IX Coordinator\, Chief Diversity Officer\, and chief disciplinary officer in addition to supervising the Division of Students/Enrollment Management. She has served as an HLC peer reviewer since 2014\, is a team chair\, is a member of the Peer Reviewer Updates and Training planning committee\, and participates as a committee member for several special projects. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRex Ramsier\n\n\n\nProfessor Emeritus\, University of Akron\n\n\n\nAfter completing his graduate work and a brief stint in industry\, Rex Ramsier joined the faculty of the University of Akron in 1996. After progressing through the tenure-track ranks\, he moved into a variety of academic administrator roles including Director of the Institute for Teaching and Learning\, Senior Vice President and Provost\, and Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer\, in addition to serving as the campus ALO for about 15 years. He returned to a primary focus on teaching as a Professor of Physics post-COVID and is heavily invested in developing inquiry-based learning opportunities for his students. He has been a member of the Peer Corps since 2008 and has served HLC in various capacities since that time. As a native New Yorker and former Florida resident\, Mr. Armstrong’s own non-traditional student experience is the cornerstone of his ability to create agility and flexibility in higher education. The transformation of CAPS will ensure student success of diverse and underrepresented communities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLaurie Dodge\n\n\n\nLaurie Dodge\, Vice President of Quality Assurance and Accreditation for the Competency-Based Education Network has been a long-time leader in CBE. Prior to her career in higher education\, Dr. Dodge served as a school psychologist in Indiana\, West Virginia\, and California. Laurie expanded her work in education by teaching courses at a nearby military base and fell in love with teaching adult learners. Dr. Dodge is a member of the NC-SARA Board of Directors and WASC Senior College Commission Substantive Change Committee and she has participated in countless national and international accreditation visits. Dr. Dodge was the inaugural Chair of the Board for C-BEN. Dr. Dodge received her doctoral degree in School Psychology from Ball State University. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSusan Elrod\n\n\n\nSusan Elrod is the Former Chancellor and Professor Emeritus\, Indiana University South Bend. She is an experienced biology professor\, university administrator\, and nationally recognized expert in higher education change leadership. She has served as a leader at universities in three university systems in the United States: the California State University (CSU) system\, the University of Wisconsin (UW) system\, and Indiana University. She is also a co-founder of CRUSE\, the Coalition for Reform in Undergraduate STEM Education\, which is a consortium of seven national associations focused on fostering national collaborations for student success in STEM. For her work in STEM higher education\, she was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Elrod holds a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of California\, Davis and an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from California State University\, Chico. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTara Laughlin\n\n\n\nDr. Tara Laughlin is a leader in competency-based education\, skills validation\, and digital credentialing. As Director of Skills Development & Validation for Education Design Lab\, she leads the Center for Skills Validation and drives strategy for scalable\, human-centered approaches to make durable skills visible and valued. Tara brings over 15 years of cross-sector experience spanning K-12\, higher education\, workforce development\, and edtech. Her strengths lie in taking a human-centered approach to micro-credentialing\, learning experience design\, and the use of authentic assessment and performance data to promote learner agency and economic mobility. She holds a Doctorate in Curriculum and Innovation and regularly contributes to national conversations through publications\, conference presentations\, and cross-sector partnerships advancing the future of learning\, work\, and equitable opportunity.. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKimberly Moore\n\n\n\nKimberly Moore\, JD\, is the Assistant Vice Provost for Enrichment Programs at Wichita State University (WSU). Kimberly serves on the 1EdTech Board of Directors\, is a member of the Digital Credentials Innovation Leadership Network and is a founding member of the TrustEd Credential Coalition. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIan Roark\n\n\n\nIan R. Roark serves as Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development for Pima Community College. Dr. Roark serves on several boards and committees at the local\, state\, and national levels. As you’re building the team\, you may find it useful to involve colleagues on your campus with peer review or prior accreditation experience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgram Fees\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n$750.00 per team \n\n\n\n(3-8 members)\n\n\n\nEach team consisting of three to eight members will be charged $750.00. A minimum of three members is required for each team. A maximum of eight members is allowed. \n\n\n\nPayment must be made in full prior to receiving access to SparQ and Zoom links. \n\n\n\nPayment Options\n\n\n\nCard payment is preferred. HLC accepts Visa\, MasterCard\, American Express\, and Discover. \n\n\n\nIf your institution requires payment via check/ACH\, you can choose this option during registration. She also works as a trainer and facilitator in leadership development\, strategic planning\, public image\, marketing\, branding\, and organizational effectiveness. Lisa retired on January 1\, 2024\, after extensive involvement in Pratt CC’s professional teams and programs\, including the President’s Council\, Instructional Council\, and Student Leadership Council\, chairing the institution’s program review initiative\, leading the Return to Campus Task Force during the pandemic\, and co-chairing the institution’s accreditation team. She served as Title IX Coordinator\, Chief Diversity Officer\, and chief disciplinary officer in addition to supervising the Division of Students/Enrollment Management. She has served as an HLC peer reviewer since 2014\, is a team chair\, is a member of the Peer Reviewer Updates and Training planning committee\, and participates as a committee member for several special projects. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRex Ramsier\n\n\n\nProfessor Emeritus\, University of Akron\n\n\n\nAfter completing his graduate work and a brief stint in industry\, Rex Ramsier joined the faculty of the University of Akron in 1996. After progressing through the tenure-track ranks\, he moved into a variety of academic administrator roles including Director of the Institute for Teaching and Learning\, Senior Vice President and Provost\, and Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer\, in addition to serving as the campus ALO for about 15 years. He returned to a primary focus on teaching as a Professor of Physics post-COVID and is heavily invested in developing inquiry-based learning opportunities for his students. He has been a member of the Peer Corps since 2008 and has served HLC in various capacities since that time.
