New Board of Trustees Members Elected
The results are in! The following individuals have been elected to HLC’s Board of Trustees:
- Daniel Abebe, Vice Provost, University of Chicago
- Mike Belter, Budget Analyst Staff, Appalachian Power, public member
- Lisa John, Secretary, Chickasaw Nation Department of Culture and Humanities, public member
- Joanne Li, Chancellor, University of Nebraska at Omaha
The Board leads the work of HLC in serving its member colleges and universities, deals with policy matters related to accreditation and votes on institutional actions.
HLC’s board membership is between 15 and 21 individuals, of whom at least three must be representatives of the public and the remainder employed by member institutions.
HLC’s Board of Trustees recognizes the importance of increasing the diversity of its members to better reflect the institutions and students we serve. Equity is the first tenet of HLC’s 2025 strategic plan, and a focus on building the diversity of HLC’s Board is one of the action steps.
