Federal Compliance Materials for 2023–24 Reviews Coming Soon
Materials for Federal Compliance Reviews that are scheduled for the 2023–24 academic year will be available for institutions in March, following the HLC Board of Trustees’ February meeting.
At that meeting, the Board will consider proposed changes to the Recruiting, Admissions and Related Institutional Practices policy. The changes would clarify expectations in this area and specify that the policy applies to all aspects of an institution’s enrollment process, including federal aid determination and administration. The proposed changes would also relocate the policy to the federal compliance section of HLC’s Policy Book to align with current implementation mechanisms.
If the Board adopts the changes, the 2023–24 Federal Compliance Overview and institutional and peer review forms will reflect the new requirements.
What Are Federal Compliance Reviews?
HLC is required by the U.S. Department Education to ensure that our members are meeting Title IV program responsibilities and complying with certain other federal regulations. We review an institution’s compliance with federal requirements as part of the comprehensive evaluation for Reaffirmation of Accreditation, as well as at other points in an institution’s accreditation relationship. See Federal Compliance Program for more information about this process.
